Ellen Herskowitz was one of those quiet, deep-thinking, talented girls that Heights had in abundance. Although she was a fine violinist and therefore not in band, she was supportive of everyone in "the department," as we termed it, and had lots of friends. Ellen could be found at any activity that was going on at HHS and also had a willing ear to listen to the troubles of others. She had a charming personality and I'll confess to a small crush on her; she had a way of appealing to the better angels of my nature and could talk me out of a dumb idea or into a good one. Rest in peace, dear friend; you are missed.
